Check out pictures from Kingdom Bound 2008!
Day 1
"Well, KB kicked things off last night with performances by God Rocks!, decembeRadio, Robin Mark and Lincoln Brewster. Street Team-er Liz and I had a nice chat with lead vocalists Josh and Brian of DecembeRadio. We met a couple of girls from the Christian station in Erie, Pennsylvania and we're looking forward to spending some time with our new friends. We are so happy at the number of CHRI listeners stop us and say HI! We made it a point t take a picture with all the Ottawans we can find!!
We ended our night with a visit to Roxy's music store in Batavia, NY. The owner, Rose, took over the family store when she was young and has been running it ever since. The whole town knows her... What a wonderful woman with a great heart and love for God. She gave us some awesome discounts and even took us out for a late-night dinner! We're so happy we met her and were able to spend some time with her and a couple of loyal CHRI listeners. (Kevin B... they're all praying for you!)

Day 2... here we come! We're giong to try and meet up with our friends from Newworldson. Stay tuned for pics!"
Day 2
"What a day! This was our first full day at Kingdom Bound and we met MORE CHRI listeners! Our day started off with a casual meet 'n' greet with Lincoln Brewster (he has brand new guitar instructional DVD's available). We spent some time with Hello Kelly's drummer Josh on the roller coaster. No one seems to want to go on the Superman ride with me.. but we'll see about tomorrow :)
The guys from Newworldson put on yet another fantastic show and took part in a musical Jam Session with speaker Rick Cua. It was hard to be at so many places at once, seeing as how many of our favourites performed back-to-back but on stages at the opposite side of the park! Thankfully we had the Event Staff to take us around on golf-carts. A
fter enjoying some beautiful worship time with Jason Upton and a quick visit with Vicky Beeching (coming to Ottawa October 14th), we watched Leeland (awesome!), Skillet (huge crowd!) and ended our night with Third Day. Wow! What an experience. Third Day took requests from the thousands of fans for almost half of their set and made sure to treat us with songs from their new record "Revelation". Third Day was the first ever Christian band to perform at base in Koate and tonight they performed their brand new track "Always Be True" and dedicated it to the soldiers fighting overseas.
Now we're pooped and our feet hurt. Tonight... sleep. Tomorrow... Superman Ride of Steel!

Day 3
Today was the most thrilling of the festival so far... and not because of the rides I went on. Well, before I get to that, we had a really nice chat with Paul Baloche (we actually ended up sitting in his car where it's quieter to do some Q & A stuff for his concert in October with Robin Mark... just a sneak peak: he'll be singing songs off his up-coming french album!)
Liz and I enjoyed a lovely lunch with the naturally beautiful Kathryn Scott (who also pastors a Vineyard Church with her husband... coming to Ottawa in November!). If you have not yet seen Downhere perform live, you're missing out. What a bunch of fun and talented Canadians. On the big stage they performed the amusing "Rock Stars Need Money" dividing the crowd into a 'shout-off' battle: One side screaming "Rock Stars" and the other "Bologna". They are looking forward to coming to Ottawa on September 4th. The boys also performed a brand new song that can be found on their new album available later in September.
Liz and I were worshipping with Robin Mark under the Worship Tent during the evening singing "Days of Elijah" and other favourites when the storm clouds rolled in. At the precise peak moment in music, worship and prayer, the loudest thunder you've ever heard crashed down over Darien Lake and Christians cheered in praise for God is moving! The Worship Tent very soon became a source of shelter for all passer-by's (just in time for Jason Upton). In some areas of the tent, there was half a foot of water and people just hung out and waiting in anticipation of what God will do next! Salvador and Jaci Velasquez's stage lost power at the same moment, but later regained it for their scheduled show.
After ducking for cover, Liz and I (and our new friends from Tyndale College in Toronto) joined up with other Canadian college reps for a late-night supper.
Day 4
We finished off the festival (not wanting to leave) with a relaxing day. After a late night with our new friends, we visited Rose at Roxy's music store again and... well... I bought a piano. I couldn't help the deal Rose was offering, she loves Canada and loves giving to people. Needless to say, I felt very blessed.
We spend most of our day on rides and rollercoasters but there was no way we were missing a few very talented acts. We spent a bit of time talking to lead singer Jason (who has a "made in Canada" tattoo on the inside of his left wrist)... let me just stop to say it seems like every artists we met was either named 'Jason', 'Josh, ' or Joel'!
Robin Mark is looking forward to coming to Ottawa with Paul Baloche in October and Liz and I were able to take some time with him and enjoy his lovely Irish accent :P
Newsboys finished off the night. What an amazing cap-off! Let me just say that if you hadn't felt God all festival, you would have felt him during the Newsboys concert. Unfortunately, none of my pictures turned out good enough to post but they had the perfect mix of performance and praise. Artists with such showmanship and creativity: lead Peter Furler crossed through the crowd to the centre of the audience and performed a drum solo on a riser. A crowd-hyping drum solo evolved into a duet with drummer Duncan Phillips who's platform rose and started spinning on its side! But not just the performance, the time of worship they led us in was powerful, ending the show with 'I Am Free'... I really feel God revealed Himself to about 12,000 people that night.
Phew! What a memorable event! Be sure to get your tickets for the concerts in the Fall as soon as they go on sale. You won't want to miss the time of worship these talented believers can lead you in!
