Tune in to the Morning Express Wednesdays and Fridays until August 20th and listen for the steam train whistle. When you hear it blow, be the 1st caller through at 613-247-1886 and you win! It's THAT easy!
The Wakefield Steam Train is a great activity to do with friends or when family is coming to visit. The train takes you on a unique adventure that no other city in Canada can offer plus it's a great way to see the natural beauty of Canada's Capital region!
Travel on board the oldest operating steam train in the nation for a half-day journey along the Gatineau river to the picturesque village of Wakefield.
** Winning passes are for the Scenic Excursion* for 2 adults & 2 children (under 12) and are only valid until Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010.
Listen for the train whistle during the Morning Express (6am-10am) on the following days:
Wednesday, August 11th
Friday, August 13th
Wednesday, August 18th
Friday, August 20th.
*About the Scenic Excursion:
The train takes your family for a 64 km round trip through Gatineau park with on-board tour guides and musicians that will share with you the history of our region and of our unique steam engine.
The complete five hour round trip consists of a two-hour stop in Wakefield and travel time is a hour and a half in each direction.
About the train:
The 909 steam engine is a type 2-8-0 and was built in Sweden in 1907. It is the only operating European steam engine in Canada and one of the last operating excursion steam engine in Canada. Train's seating capacity: 502 passengers.
