2025 Guest Speaker: Rev. Jon Ruby.
A former addict turned preacher and community organizer, Rev. Jon Ruby will answer the annual OCPB question “Who is My Neighbour? through the lens of his work with men and women struggling with addiction.
After many years of rebellion and chaos, 2005 marked the beginning of a miraculous journey into recovery and restoration for Jon.
Once he fully surrendered his life to Christ, Jon was an eager disciple who pursued mentors and teachers to speak into his life. Jon was called to Jericho Road Christian Ministries in 2006 where he was invited to develop and facilitate ‘The Discipleship House’, a Christ-centered, long term, residential addiction treatment program. Until 2014, Jon served as Director of Addiction Services, overseeing up to 12 men at a time. A role that “helped me more than it helped them”, he says.
For some time, Jon and his wife, Vikki, sensed God calling them to reach a broader community with the message of Christ’s redemption that freed them and in 2013 embarked on a church planting mission under the umbrella of C2C Network. Union City Church, a non-denominational church, held their first public meeting June 26, 2016 with a mission to reach the least, the lost and the lonely.
Carlington Booch and Ashes to Rubies are two ministries that are also a result of the founding of Union City Church.
Jon and Vikki have two adult sons and one granddaughter.
